Visual Mihi

At the start of this week in Te Ngahere, we were learning to create a visual mihi. The images I chose reminded me of the mihi that is why I chose them. The images describe what is on the mihi. The images have words under the images and the texts say what the images mean. Example: I chose some clouds because they reminded me of the sky.

Here is my visual mihi below.

Last week in Te Ngahere, our learning intention was to identify our next learning goals. We had to choose at least three goals on our writing goal sheet and make a google drawing then write our goals onto it. Here is mine.

William Pike

Last week in Te Ngahere, in our reading we were learning about William Pike and how he relates to a book we read called ‘Rep’. William Pike relates to the book because he was on the poster in the book climbing a mountain who had one leg. William Pike lost his leg in a volcanic eruption in Mt Ruapehu. William Pike is an inspirational talker and he talks on a website called ‘Webinar’ at 9.00am or 9.30am.

My Reflection

On Monday week 8 in Te Ngahere in our writing time we were learning to evidence our learning. First we went into our goal setting presentation and looked at our writing goals. We had to link our writing that had the goal we had set on our slide and if all of our goals were evidenced we had to show the teacher and if the teacher says that you are done you could finish off your other writing! Koru and Kowhaiwhai Patterns

On Term 2 Te Ngahere, Te Maunga and some students family members did some koru and kowhaiwhai art. We drew koru and kowhaiwhai patterns to represent our whanau and hang on the wall of our school Whare. Firstly, we practised on a scrap piece of paper with a crayon. Then we showed our teachers. This time, we had to draw some Koru and Kowhaiwhai patterns on a good piece of paper with a pencil. On our good piece of paper, we had to make sure our koru were the symmetrical. After our good piece of paper, we had to draw super good koru and kowhaiwhai pattern to represent our family. We used pencil first and after we showed the teacher it was good to go. Next step was to paint over and after the paint had dried, we had to outline the koru and kowhaiwhai with a vivid. We learnt how to draw koru and kowhaiwhai patterns.

Visiting the Treaty Grounds

Last week on Tuesday the whole of Paihia school went to visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. The Junior children had to leave before us seniors and that was pretty early, They left at half past nine and the seniors left at twelve o’clock. When we got to the treaty grounds we were so tired from the long walk. We did loads of activities at the treaty grounds. There was: Planting, playing games, weaving and much more. Next time I go I would want to do those things again!

Fidget spinner art

A couple of weeks go Te Ngahere and Te Maunga collaborated and got to draw our own fidget spinners. We were learning to use space, crayon and dye to colour it in. When we were getting ready we grabbed a A3 piece of paper and we got creative, Most students used their own fidget spinners to copy then others got more creative. Some people used their Chromebooks to search up some designs. It was hard drawing our own fidget spinners because we came up with all these cool ideas and it was difficult to choose from.

Making Ice cream

In Te Ngahere On Friday week 7 we made ice cream.
The cause of making delicious ice cream was that the whole of Te Ngahere had to finish their learning plan. After our ice  cream was made we created a recount and we had to put our writing goals on our recounts. On my Recount I was learning how to use parentheses and put metaphors in my writing.

Tim Tipene's Visit

When Tim Tipene visited Paihia School we were excited. He told us about his childhood and he read us a book called Hinemoa Te Toa, That was funny when he would acted like the other people.
His message was: Everyone has a warrior inside them. I haven’t read his books but I am really looking forward to reading them. I think some of his books are called: The Warrior kids, Taming the Taniwha, Haere and Kura Toa.

My juicy red apple...
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/07/Honeycrisp-Apple.jpg
I was looking at my red shiny apple,
It felt as cold as a ice cube.
I put my apple close to my ear,
I tried to peel it with longish nails.
It made a like a fizzing sound like a fizzy drink,
I gazed at my polished apple one more time.
I took a small bite like it was bitten by a mouse,
I took another bite and it was bigger.
I took a few more big bites,
all you can see was the brown and white seeds.

That was how my apple got gobbled up!
